The renovation of Fireboat Station 1 featured key improvements to the existing features that bring the station up to modern code. The main focus of the project was designing and constructing an entirely new seawall to reinforce the grounds alongside the Detroit Riverfront. The current HVAC and electrical systems were replaced with the most updated equipment and all windows were refitted with new panes.
