We are looking for a hands-on individual to work with our estimating team on all pre-construction related activities including value engineering, schedules, logistics, procurement, alternative and comparative studies. What you'll be doing:
  • Become an indispensable part of the team tasked with winning new work and managing preconstruction by learning and applying DD’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Participate in Business Development activities to help secure new work.
  • Learn clients’ goals and help them achieve them.
  • Strategize with the DD team to develop a winning approach for each project.
  • Assemble conceptual budgets early in the process based on limited information.
  • Manage the preconstruction process from start to finish on multiple concurrent exercises.
  • Lead precon meetings with clients and their design teams.
  • Lead teams of estimators, PMs, supers etc. during preconstruction.
  • Become an expert on the project, invite the needed trades, identify constructability issues, and find conflicting or missing information that needs to be answered or qualified.
  • Collaborate with DD Operations to develop project schedule, staffing, and logistic needs.
  • Lead and assist in estimating efforts at the various budgeting milestones.
  • Assemble complete and accurate budgets and report on changes in them at each stage.
  • Negotiate and award subcontracts after a successful bid process.
  • Assemble and turnover project information to operations to run the job and collaborate with the project manager to ensure a successful project.

  • Expertise in a wide variety of construction types, methods, equipment, materials, details, and their effect on project value.
  • Experience and proven ability to assemble complete and accurate budgets and estimates on a wide variety of commercial, healthcare, and multi-family project types.
  • Knowledge of all types of bid processes, contracts, negotiations, and winning strategies for each.
  • Ability to perform constructability reviews, identify risk and know how to mitigate it in alignment with the strategized bid approach.
  • Ability to lead and motivate other team members on group exercises.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Box, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating, and OST.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
